This unique publication is about the buildings of the Melody Motion Picture Ranch near Newhall California that served as the background for the TV series Gunsmoke from 1955 until 1962 when it burned to the ground. This book contains illustrations that don't exist anywhere else. There is a map of Gunsmoke's Dodge City plus original color renderings of the 25 buildings that made up the town, shown as if you're looking directly at them. In addition, there are chapters explaining how the western town came to be; the day of the fire; the rebuilding of the ranch in the 1990's; how the author developed his renderings; and even a chapter for those interested in building a scale-model of the town. Dimensions = 9" x 11" x 1/2".
